More Ford Recalls & What You Should Do.

Ford issued new recalls last week for the following five vehicles:

F-150, EXPEDITION, EXPLORER, MUSTANG and LINCOLN NAVIGATOR

On April 27, 2016, Ford Motor Company released a recall impacting 81,000 SUVs for a suspension defect. They also noted a recall for a transmission issue impacting approximately 202,000 pickup trucks. Three smaller recalls were also issued.

SUSPENSION ISSUE – SUVs

The suspension defect impacts 2014-2015 Ford Explorer SUVs as well as Ford Police Interceptor SUVs. Ford found that the vehicles rear suspension toe links could fracture due to a welding defect. This would then result in a loss of steering.

TRANSMISSION – SUVs and TRUCKS

This recall impacts the 6R80 transmission models on certain vehicles 2011-12 Ford F-150, the 2012 Ford Expedition, Ford Mustangs built in Michigan from Aug. 19, 2011, through Feb. 21, 2012, and 2012 Lincoln Navigators built in Kentucky from Aug. 19, 2011, through Dec. 17, 2011.

ADDITIONAL FORD RECALLS

Ford also issued the following smaller recalls:

  • Possible tire damage from a conveyor during manufacturing for the 2016 Ford F-Series Super Duty. This impacts 2,600 units.

  • 199 units of the 2007 – 2012 Ford Flex, Ford Taurus, Lincoln MKS and Mercury Sable are impacted by a recall to resolve driver-side air bag module issues.

  • 40 vehicles of the 2016 Ford Fusion have a river-side seat mountain bracket welding that needs to be replaced.
